Opal Honeycomb Pod Racer Super Pipe
In full Super Pipe mode, the Opal Honeycomb Pod Racer is an 18-inch beast of a water pipe that would complement any glass collection display. Disassembled, it becomes a Nectar Collector bubbler and a dry hammer pipe. It’s the realization of an idea I’ve carried for years: a multifunctional work of art that can be assembled, displayed, and used in multiple configurations.
My conception of the Super Pipe grew out of the system I created to make my Nectar Collectors modular. From the early days, I knew I needed a way to connect a removable, replaceable tip and make it easy to get water in and out of the spill-proof chamber.
We started with glass-on-glass ground joints, moved on to glued-on threaded metal connectors, briefly and somewhat disastrously tried threaded glass-to-metal connectors, and finally arrived at the stainless steel connectors with O-rings used on most of our products today.
Throughout that evolution, I kept coming back to the same thought: this system could do much more than make it easy to change a tip or diffuser. The Opal Honeycomb Pod Racer Super Pipe brings that idea to life. Assembled, it’s a statement piece. Taken apart, it’s two pipes that beg to be smoked, even if only for special occasions.
